X2TEK PROGRAM DOWNLOAD INFORMATION
programs are designed, created, and tested for execution on PC computer
platforms and not on websites or servers. Program
downloads are supplied in compressed file distribution packages with the
filename extension .zip. Each download always contains the executable
program file with the extension .exe and a program information file with the
extension .txt plus any supporting files.
To obtain a program, click on
the download link and SAVE
the zip file on your PC. Opening a zip file on X2TEK only
allows you to view the file's contents and read the .txt program info file by
clicking on it. A zip filename contains a version number to check
for new updates. Programs probably will not execute properly when clicking on the
.exe file on X2TEK.
If you are concerned about
virus infections, save the zip file on a removable medium like a floppy
or USB drive and scan it with antivirus software before
moving it to the PC's hard drive. My files are created on a W98
PC without an internet connection to avoid malware problems.
Next, extract the files
contained within the downloaded zip file to a folder. On WXP or VISTA, just right click the zip filename shown with "My
computer" and select the extract option. On other platforms, you
may need to do the file extraction using a free
downloaded utility program such as PKUNZIP or ENZIP available on the
internet along with more zip file info.
